Read the following to be sure that T1 is suitable for you
- Those with conventional outlooks, career goals and aspirations are unlikely to succeed with T1, our approach is training based with flexible work opportunities, not conventional 40 hour weeks!
- T1 does NOT operate as a conventional business, ensure you understand this by carefully reviewing ALL of the team sections in this website before applying for a role with T1.
- Ensure you understand this opportunity and ask questions if you do not understand.
*Allow at least 25 mins to fill in the forms and carefully read ALL information, you need to review each page carefully before you will get to the application forms.
For information about training as a CONSULTANT in the sales area view consultant information page, consultants do NOT go through the usual technical work experience - internship process but start in a sales role within 4 weeks of applying.
What is the Training period?
Most Roles with T1 involve a training period* this is to ensure you are fully competent with the software involved and to familiarise you with any systems involved in your role. During the training period your behavior will show us if you are suited to the T1 culture and capable of the high standards our team expect.
Suitable Trainees progress from a work experience position through to an internship where we actively work together towards a part time role with the business through to full team member where there is certainty of hours involved. More details are answered in the following questions. It is up to you during the trainee period to show us what you are capable of and prove it is worth us inviting you onto the team, we do not guarantee that all trainees will progress to internships, whether you do will depend on your dedication to the role.
The training process is a series of directed tutorials and readings followed by practical exercises. We are in the position of MENTORS not a TRAINING SCHOOL, we will guide you and direct you but expect you to follow the study and tutorials we assign in order to learn. Those who reach intern level may receive some one on one and group training sessions in specific areas, but not until they have already completed set self study.
*Those applying directly for roles as contractors who have suitable experience and a proven track record, may just involve a single trial project at a negotiated rate and not require training if they are already familiar with all software and systems we use, this is normally only the case with experienced web developers and programmers.
1. Is there a cost for the training
No we provide the training at no charge, initially training is self paced and autonomous,
readings and background study, and setting up logins and usernames. However your mentor will set mutually agreed targets for all training prior to commencement which we expect you to meet.
Further training is based on following training checklists and discussing it with your mentor.
To provide mentoring and prepare this training material costs us a lot of time which could be spent earning money directly, the only compensation we expect is a committment that you will work on internal projects and some client projects at no payment during your training and internship periods, this gives T1 a chance to recoup the training costs directly from the labour you provide free of charge.
2. What do I need to work with T1
- Access to a computer with full admin privileges (so you can install programs
- High speed internet so you can effectively operate the web tools
- A webcam and Microphone, set up properly
- A Gmail account
- A Landline phone number and Cellphone number
3. When can i do the training?
Training is self paced so you can work through it anytime of the day or night, as long as you add comments to the checklists to communicate with your supervisor, we can give you feedback easily. There will be direct training sessions online at scheduled times which you may attend as well. these will be scheduled to fit in with your timetable.
4. How much money will I earn?
These training roles have no direct income attached to them at all, they are a chance for us to analyse your suitability as an intern, and for you to upgrade your skills and become part of a progressive training community.
This is a part time training role, followed by the chance to apply to become an Intern with T1.
There is no guarantee that this training will lead to a full time role with T1, the purpose of the training is to teach you the basics of consultancy and/or marketing technicians work. Once you understand these areas we will be able to give you some practical work to gain experience in this area.
Those who excel in their training may be offered an internship which means we will work with you to develop a role within T1 to suit your needs, normally roles for new team members are contract only starting at under 5 hours per week, and developing over a matter of months into part time roles approaching 20 hours, Full time roles normally take up to 12 months to achieve.

6. Why can't I instantly start working in a paid position for T1? (management and trainee roles)
We do not guarantee jobs based on cv's alone but like to analyse people in a work experience situation first to ensure they are suitable to the role and our company culture and most importantly to ensure they have a full and complete understanding of the complexities involved.
This training process takes our normal team members away from other tasks to critique and check work, and can take a considerable amount of time and cost for the business. The training also upskills the work-experience person teaching them the typical software and systems and the technical aspects to be able to work in the web industry, so there are huge gains in terms of employability for anyone who completes work experience in this area.
7. Where are the offices?
We no longer require offices as we found no clients visit them, they prefer us to go to them, and it is more efficient and less costly to work from home for team members, no costs. We make extensive use of skype and online project management and document software. The feedback from clients is overwhelmingly positive on these changes as we even do predominantly online training and consultancy now which means very fast response times when people want appointments.
This "virtual" office concept also means we are totally geared up to offer our service to clients anywhere in the world (although focus is Aust and NZ atm) and gives more flexibility in working hours for our team members which normally means a better lifestyle and the ability to travel more and work from multiple locations.
This means you must like the idea of having home based projects and have good internet access and a headset for communication on skype. Despite having no physical office, team members do chat and get to know each other (although not as quickly) via skype and we try to have regular get-togethers as well.
The management systems we use are very technical involving multiple applications, databases and procedures to be followed plus new software which most amateurs or those from other industries would not have come across, so it takes some time to learn all the systems to a level where you can work unaided and unsupervised. We use custom hosting software and systems, project management software, an extensive range of procedure documents and systems to manage them, plus multiple specialised spreadsheets and other systems to manage our everyday activities.
We take quality control extremely seriously as it is very easy for anyone with access to these systems to seriously disrupt our service and those provided to our clients, and training in the more sensitive and advanced areas is only undertaken once we can be sure of a persons honesty, reliability and attention to detail.
The time this process of training takes will vary from person to person, but we cannot afford to let anyone lose on our systems until we are 100% confident that unsupervised they can follow our systems to the highest level with no mistakes and no need for supervision.
We are also investing considerable time and effort in upskilling people with knowledge in industry specific software and professional systems involved in the management of web companies, this makes them more employable without the cost of attending expensive training courses in these areas.
Once appointed successfully to an internship role, any paid positions in our business start out with a very small amount of contract hours (normally under 5 hrs p.w.) slowly working their way up in hours as they gain specific skills and the amount of available incoming projects for their role increases.
We NEVER offer a full time (40 hr week level) in a short period. We prefer to have multiple people able to do individual jobs giving flexibility in hours and a better work-life balance and reducing our reliance on a single person in any one role.
We also want to take the time to ensure that you are a good fit with the organisation and committed to working with us and are prepared to do the ongoing learning needed to be in this industry before increasing hours towards a full-time sitn. Please DO NOT APPLY if your sole goal is to get full-time work quickly, this is not an option with T1, we want reliable part-time contractors.
Over a period of 12+ months dedicated team members are likely to get hours approaching that of a full-time role if they need them.
